A 19-year old Wenlon Drive man defended himself against a would be robber on Tuesday night. The victim told police that a suspicious male approached him in the parking lot of his apartment and showed him a gun. The suspect then told the victim, “I’m trying to rob you and I will kill you.”

The victim told the culprit to follow him back to his apartment and that he would give him money there. Once at the apartment, the unknown man forced his way in and that was when the victim and his two roommates wrestled the subject to the ground. They then held him at sword point until police arrived. Officers were able to make an arrest.

Arrested was 18-year old Dedrick Lee Gaines. The teen was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and theft. He will appear in court on November 15th.
