Have you reached the point that when you open your medicine cabinet, you find ointments dating back 10 years and expired prescriptions for ailments you can not remember? If yes, you can take advantage of the drug take-back being held this Saturday, September 29 at La Vergne City Hall. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the La Vergne Police Department - in partnership with the U.S. DEA and the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Rutherford County - will be at City Hall accepting old prescription drugs.

Any and all drugs, including pills, liquids, creams, and salves will be accepted. The drugs will then be destroyed safely.

“We do this event a couple of times every year,” said Police Chief Mike Walker. “It relieves our residents the burden of having to properly dispose of the medications on their own. We encourage people to cover their names with a black sharpie before turning them in so information may remain confidential.”

For those who can’t make the collection days, the LPD maintains a prescription drop-box in the foyer area of the station throughout the year.
