The readers of The Tennessee Magazine have selected Uncle Dave Macon Days, a traditional, old-time music and dance event as “The Best Festival” in Middle Tennessee.  The magazine is a statewide publication of the Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association. Event president Gloria Christy says they're honored and delighted with the news. According to the information in the publication, the 2012 Best of Tennessee Readers’ Choice Awards had more than 1,000 votes cast by readers who nominated the best food, attractions and accommodations the state has to offer. In each category, three winners were selected, one from each of the state’s three grand divisions. To see all of the winners, visit www.tnelectric.com

Since the event’s beginning around the historic Rutherford County Courthouse in 1978, Uncle Dave Macon Days has focused on preserving and celebrating the traditional music and dance arts of Tennessee. It is home to three national championships in Old-Time Banjo, Buckdancing and Clogging. Additionally, the festival regularly has been selected by the Southeast Tourism Society and the American Bus Association as one of their top events. The 2013 festival will take place July 12-14 at historic Cannonsburgh Village.
