Being accused of bribery is a serious charge… One Murfreesboro man was charged with bribery after allegedly telling an officer who arrested him for public intoxication that he could have his 18-pack of beer if he turned his head to the charges.

Alexander Underwood reportedly told police that he had 19-mixed drinks over the past 24-hours.  Police say they spotted Underwood crossing South Rutherford Boulevard. Officers responded to the area after receiving a call that Underwood was allegedly causing a disturbance at Applebee’s.

As far as the 18-pack of beer that Underwood allegedly told the officer he could have, he evidently told police that it was hidden in the bushes in front of Walmart.

The 26-year old man was charged with public intoxication and bribery.
