Armed Robbery at Local Gas Station

Murfreesboro Police are still investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Mapco gas station on Memorial Boulevard near the VA Hospital on Sunday.

The clerk reported that two men, one armed with a small baseball bat and the second with a gun, entered the store shortly after one in the morning.  The culprit with the bat jumped over the counter and emptied the register.

The two men were described as black males, one wearing a skull mask and the second with some type of black nylon covering his face. Police quickly dispatched a K-9 unit after the hold up and were able to follow the suspects scent to a nearby nursing home. At that point however, the dog lost the scent. The culprits got away. They made off with less than $200.
