No More Electronic Billboard in Murfreesboro?

No More Electronic Billboard in Murfreesboro? | billboard, electronic billboard, electronic signage, signs, Murfreesboro news

The Lamar Outdoor Advertising electronic billboard on Old Fort Parkway next to Starbucks is officially down, after several years of warnings, fines and even a court case involving the City of Murfreesboro. You may recall the sign was originally erected against the sign ordinance of Murfreesboro that does not allow for electronic signage.  Looking back to 2012, power was actually cut off at the base of the electronic billboard while the city and Lamar battled the issue in court. The battle went on several years before the power was turned off. In fact, the battle lasted for over five years. That story can be found HERE.

At this point, it appears as if Lamar will put a traditional billboard bracket in place of the electronic billboard. The new billboard bracket will specifically hold canvas type signage.

Meanwhile, the City of LaVergne continues to allow for strides in new technology to shape the future. LaVergne saw their first electronic billboard several years ago. See that story HERE about how the LaVergne Council utilizes an electronic billboard in their city.
