Oakland Girls Beat Riverdale for First Time in 9 Years (plus other Monday finals)

The Oakland girls did something for the first time in 22 tries, nine years. The Lady Pats beat Riverdale 56-50 to claim second place in the upcoming district tournament and an automatic bye to the region. Oakland won the final quarter 25-9 for the win. Kaitlin Oliver led the Lady Pats 16, Shelby Gibson had 14. Alexa Middleton, despite a second half injury, finished the game with 17. Shelbie Davenport had 14.

GIRLS PODCAST

The Oakland boys trailed the entire game, but in the waning seconds, Kyle Oliver hit the go-ahead basket to defeat Riverdale 59-58. The Warriors led most of the game, by as many as 10, but the Patriots kept chipping away at every run. Oakland's Jerrell Reeves had 19 of his 21 points in the second half to lead his team to victory. Riverdale's Psalms Duff had 16 and Brad Woodson 14.
