Occupy Murfreesboro is BACK with tents at City Hall

City places large, loud generators to power giant floodlights that offer more security to the area and make it easier for Murfreesboro Police to observe activity on the city's property.

Occupy Murfreesboro is back. Occupiers set up on a rainy Monday on the Murfreesboro Civic Plaza with signs that read, “We are the 99%.” Several Nashville Occupiers have joined with the Murfreesboro Occupiers to help advise them on what to do if arrested.

As far as camping goes, the police department says there are city codes against camping.  However, that obviously did not have any impact as tents were observed on the civic plaza Tuesday morning. Murfreesboro Police Officer Kyle Evans told WGNS...

 

The citations that were issued are for $50. With court costs, those citations will end up costing the violator about $200 when everything is said and done. In the meantime, the city placed large, loud generators to power huge spotlights that lit the entire area Monday night.  

A total of five citations were issued on Tuesday morning. The campers that received a citation were Mark Vanzant, Jr. Rachel A. Davies, Callie A. Gabner, Elizabeth L. Sharp, and Benjamin C. Spencer.
