Oil Based Paint Collection This Saturday

Mar 18, 2013 at 06:17 am by bryan

Oil-based paint only will be collected and properly disposed of this Saturday (March 23rd) from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at 1140 Haley Road. This collection is for households only. Oil-based paint is considered minimally hazardous and is no longer accepted at the annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection. This is in compliance with standards set by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. Latex paint, also called acrylic paint, will NOT be collected at this or any other event since it is not actually a hazardous material. Instead it is a nuisance waste that should be dried at home before disposing of in the regular trash. This is the only opportunity in the immediate future to properly dispose of oil-based paint. The next oil-based paint collection will be in September. For more information please call either 898-7739 or 542-4633.
