Felony drug possession charges were filed against a Murfreesboro man at his Journey Drive residence on Tuesday. Police were on foot patrol when they met with 21-yer old Desmond Trice after smelling marijuana coming from one of the apartments at The Grove.

Upon questioning Trice, he allegedly admitted to smoking weed behind one of the buildings. Officers then asked if they could search the apartment belonging to Trice, but he said no suggesting that they needed a warrant. The Vice unit was then called to the scene and once again asked if they could search the apartment. The second request ended with a yes.

Once inside the apartment police found over $1,300 in cash, a digital scale and 40 individual baggies of marijuana. Officers also found a small amount of Xanax pills in his vehicle after he gave officers permission to search his car on Tuesday.

Trice will appear in court in October. He is currently free on bond.
