Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Owner of Restaurant Arrested and Charged with Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor

The owner of Sami’s Hooka Lounge on Middle Tennessee Boulevard was arrested for allegedly allowing persons under the age of 21 to drink alcoholic beverages in the restaurant near Kroger. Of the 13-teenagers that Bassam Yousif Ihmaidan was accused of allowing to drink, 9 were under the age of 18 and were placed into police custody and charged with violating the curfew law and underage consumption. The remaining 4-teenagers were 18 or older and were simply written a citation for underage consumption. Ihmaidan will appear in court to face 13-counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges on April 10th.
