Police were greeted at the door by the home owner who said the dead man was painting the residence, and had a generator running inside the house to power a heater. Fire fighters were called to measure carbon monoxide levels.

La Vergne Police spokesperson John Fesmire told NewsRadio WGNS that carbon monoxide levels in the home were 74 parts per million upstairs, and 84 on the main floor, despite the fact that windows had been opened for ventilation.

In addition, the police report shows that the home owner and the painter both worked for the same contractor.

The name of the victim is being withheld until next of kin are notified. NewsRadio WGNS will keep you informed.
