Get back-to-school in style during Stones River Mall’s fashionable event from noon-5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2. Kick off the event in Center Court with a Pep Rally featuring local cheer and dance squads, including Elite Energy Gymnastics and Stewart's Creek High School.
Learn about the hottest looks for fall with a series of fashion shows held in the Food Court, beginning at 1:30 p.m. “Tax-free weekend provides a great opportunity to showcase the latest styles, partner with community groups, and just have some fun!” says Melinda Noblitt, marketing manager, Stones River Mall. “As Stones River Mall re-positions itself as a community gathering place, shoppers can expect to see more of these kinds of events.”
Local high school students will test their shopping skills during a shopping competition, wherein they’ll receive $75 and one hour to shop for one entire outfit. At the end of the event, each student will model his or her outfit, and one winner will be selected by a panel of judges to receive an additional prize to continue shopping.
During the series of fashion shows, Dillard's will highlight 100 of its newest children's styles, while the Mall’s junior retailers have partnered to showcase a variety of looks perfect for the summer-to-fall transition. Paul Mitchell -- The School is next on the roster with a hair and make-up show featuring Versona Accessories.
Following the fashion shows, Buffalo Wild Wings will take the stage for a Mini Blazin’ Wing Challenge. Participants will have 3 minutes to eat six of the restaurant’s hottest wings without water, napkins, ranch, or celery. Those who successfully complete the challenge will receive their pictures on the Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin’ Wall of Fame. And the fastest contestant will receive a 50-Wing Party that can be redeemed at a later date. Shoppers interested in competing in the contest must sign up before 4:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Wild Wings station near the Food Court. The cost to participate is $5, and Buffalo Wild Wings will donate $.50 of each entry fee to MTSU’s ACE Learning Center (formerly Project HELP).
Shoppers can also support MTSU's ACE Learning Center by donating pre-school supplies in exchange for a free haircut from Paul Mitchell – The School. ACE Learning Center is in need of the following items: Play-Doh, jumbo crayons, markers, glue, colored pencils, finger paint and paper, paint brushes, stickers, and bubbles. ACE Learning Center is an inclusive preschool, where children who have developmental delays learn and play with those who are developing typically.
In addition to the back-to-school event, Stones River Mall is offering a Shoptimum promotion Monday, July 28, through Sunday, Aug. 3. Shoppers who spend $200 across three stores/restaurants from July 28-Aug. 3 can receive a $20 gift card to Dillard’s, JCPenney, OR Books-A-Million, while supplies last. To redeem the gift card, shoppers must present qualifying receipts to the Mall Management Office (Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. / Saturday-Sunday noon–6 p.m.).
