Early Saturday (1/30/2016) morning, a pedestrian was hit in Smyrna.

Sergeant Bobby Gibson told NewsRadio WGNS that it occurred on South Lowry at Washington Streets. That's the intersection in the center of the old business district that takes you across the railroad tracks to the roundabout.

Gibson explained that a silver 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by 41-year old James Hollon of Antioch, was traveling south on Lowry Street when a pedestrian crossed into the path of the vehicle just south of Washington Street.

The pedestrian, identified as 48-year old Richard Dunivant of Smyrna, received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment.

Sergeant Gibson noted, "The initial investigation indicates that Dunivant may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash. Toxicology test results are pending for both the driver and the pedestrian."

The motorist was not injured.
