Police Pursuit on I-24 Ends in Manchester

The police pursuit started in Nashville, went through Rutherford County via I-24 and ended in nearby Manchester.

Scotty W. Bell, 39, of Hermitage, TN is being held in the Coffee County Jail under a bond of $128,000 after leading the Tennessee Highway Patrol and other officers on a high speed chase along I-24 Wednesday.

According to warrants obtained by THP Officer Donnie Clark, officers were notified of a 2006 Nissan Altima traveling toward Coffee County that was involved in an armed carjacking in the Nashville area.

Lieutenant John Harmon reported that deputies from the Coffee County Sheriff's Department were successful in laying down spike strips to end the pursuit. Bell crashed, but apparently was uninjured.

He was charged with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, theft of property and driving on suspended license following the pursuit. Bell is scheduled to appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court on Sept. 26.
