Police Teamwork Results In Quick "Armed Robbery" Arrests

Shortly after 12:30 Monday afternoon (5/28/2012), Murfreesboro Police responded to an armed robbery call at the Vista Suites and Inn at 118 Westgate Boulevard.

The victim told officers that he was driving through the parking lot when a male stopped him and asked for a smoke. When he allegedly stopped, the man pulled a black revolver and jumped in the front seat and demanded "give me your money or I'm gonna kill ya". At that point, another male reportedly got in the back seat and held him.

The 55-year old man told police that he saw the two culprits jump into a maroon colored Ford Taurus and speed away toward South Church Street. Officers spotted a vehicle matching the description and made a felony stop on Southeast Broad at Wall Street. The victim identified two of the males in the car as those who commited the crime. 

Police reports indicate that 21-year old Brandon Darrel Buchanan attempted to run while being frisked by Sergeant Higgins. A large bag of marijuana and $350 in cash was found on the Baird Lane resident. The suspect, who was said to be called "B", told police that the marijuana and money were his. The contraband was secured as evidence and the cash was seized by Detective Mongold. Buchanan was arrested for resisting arrest and possession of Schedule VI drugs. Bond for Brandon Darrel Buchanan was set at $11,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 23rd. 

The victim told police that a white 4G I-Phone was taken, along with a black leather wallet containing $20, a $100 Wal-Mart money card, $350 cash, and a Tennessee identification card. 

Detectives reviewed the motel's surveillance video of the crime. In addition to Buchanan, 27-year old George A. Simpson was arrested and charged with vandalism under $500 as well as simple assault. The First Avenue resident reportedly kicked out the window of the police car while being held for the assault victim to the brought to the location. Once there, Buchanan and Simpson were positively ID'ed.  

In addition, Brandon Puckett and a female--Chasmine Frambo were in the vehciel and also taken into custody.
