The National Federation of Independent Business, Tennessee’s leading small business association, has endorsed incumbent Dawn White (Murfreesboro) in the race for the 37th House District. The endorsement was made by NFIB/Tennessee SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, which is comprised exclusively of NFIB members.

State primaries are scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 7, with early voting beginning July 18 and ending Aug. 2. NFIB expects to announce general election endorsements later this summer. The general election will be held Nov. 4.

“NFIB supports candidates who support small businesses and who are dedicated to protecting our free enterprise system,” said Jim Brown, state director of NFIB/Tennessee. “Dawn White has consistently voted to reduce burdens on small businesses and stood with them time and again in the 108th Tennessee General Assembly.”

Brown noted White’s support for many small business initiatives, including a resolution calling for a national balanced budget amendment and needed reforms to our workers’ compensation, unemployment, employment law and tort systems.

White, a small business owner with a 100 percent NFIB Voting Record, said, “NFIB’s support for my campaign shows that I’ve followed through on my pledge to help small businesses help grow our economy by getting government out of their way. While many in Washington, D.C. are creating obstacles and uncertainty for small business, Tennessee is on a much different path by adopting business-friendly policies and reforms.”

NFIB’s endorsement is critical to Dawn White’s campaign. Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB has pledged it will activate its grassroots network on behalf of Rep. White’s campaign. NFIB’s political support is based on the candidates’ positions and records on small business issues.
