This past October, the 11,000th Dollar General Store opened in Rutherford County. The store opened on North Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro. We have now received news that another store is set to open this Saturday in Smyrna at 8:00 in the morning.

Dollar General has a history that dates back to 1939. The stores were founded by Cal Turner Sr. and his father J.L. Turner in Scottsville, Kentucky as J.L. Turner & Son, Inc.  It wasn’t until 1968 that the company changed their name to Dollar General Corporation.
