Proposal to Increase Class Sizes Dead in the Water

Governor Bill Haslam is not taking any action on a proposal to increase school classroom sizes in kindergarten through 12th grade schools. House Bill 2348 and Senate Bill 2210 would have increased class sizes by five students in each grade. In high school, that would mean up to 35-students per class. The proposal to increase class sizes may be presented to the General Assembly again in the future. On a side note: The Rutherford County School System was against the idea of bigger classrooms.
