Central Valley Road residents in the Leanna area are not keen on the idea of a new police and firefighting training center, that's the word from the Murfreesboro Board of Zoning Appeals meeting. The board deferred a vote on the public safety training facility.

The proposed structure is aimed for a 52-acre slice of land on the old Coleman Farm. The farm covers some 460-acres that the City of Murfreesboro owns in the area of Central Valley Road not far from Thompson Lane. If approved in the future, the training grounds will likely hold a shooting range and more. The site would see traffic of about 75-public safety vehicles daily.

Despite deferring the majority of the vote, a 300-foot communications tower was approved, which is 225-taller than most towers approved in Murfreesboro.
