After almost a decade, Puleo's Grille at 730 N.W. Broad Street is only a memory. When customers arrived for lunch, they found an empty parking lot and "Sorry, We're Closed" posted on the doors.

However, in the back of the once popular eatery (photo below)--there was much action. Staff from the Knoxville corporate office was taking goods back to East Tennessee where there are several Puleo's Grille locations.

WGNS was unsuccessful in connecting with Puleo's President and CEO Gale Huneycutt, Jr. However, reliable sources indicate a popular sports bar and grill with locations throughout the south and west is looking at a makeover of the structure to fit its image.

WGNS Said To Have Created Biggest Day At Local Puleo's

Management at the local eatery told WGNS in December, 2007 that the radio station attracted the largest crowd to Puleo's Murfreesboro location.

Popular conservative talk radio host G. Gordon Liddy was in the area for business in Nashville, and so he did his daily show from WGNS.

Bart Walker remembers, "I had a feeling listeners would like to meet the G-Man, so the morning before his visit to Murfreesboro, we casually mentioned on our show that Mr. Liddy was not aware of this, but if any of you wanted to meet us at lunch, we'd be at Puleo's around 12:30 the next day."

To make certain everything went well, then Sheriff Truman Jones, who is now a popular WGNS' talk show host (9AM Monday through Friday), gave a blue-light escort from the radio station to Puleo's.

Walker recalled, "It's good he did, as there was standing room only with listeners lining the sidewalk leading into the restaurant as well as in every aisle inside Puleo's. Only the tables reserved for Mr. Liddy had room to walk around."
