Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Qualify Now to Run for City Council or School Board

If you want to qualify to run for a seat on the Murfreesboro City Council or the Murfreesboro School Board, you had better act fast. The deadline to enter the race is on Thursday. The Election Day is on April the 17^th. So far in the city council race, incumbents Toby Gilley and Chris Bratcher have qualified to run. Ron Washington has picked up a petition to qualify, but has yet to turn it in. Also qualifying to run are Connor Moss, Ricky R. Turner, Bill Jakes and Eddie L. Smotherman.

In the race for the Murfreesboro School Board, incumbents Butch Campbell and Nancy Phillips have both qualified to run again. Also qualifying are Aaron Hall and William “Andy” Brown.
