The quick change scam is back in the Boro.

This past weekend a man entered the Smoothing King on Medical Center Parkway asking for change after purchasing a smoothie. The man handed the clerk a $50 bill for a $6 drink. He then confused the employee of the store to the point where she accidently handed the customer over $100 back.

The scam at Smoothing King is just like previous quick change scams in the past, according to Murfreesboro Police Reports. The scam is done by a con artist who purchases a small item from the store and then confuses the clerk by repeatedly asking for different amounts of change. It often happens so fast that the victim behind the counter fails to realize what just occurred until the suspect is gone.

During the incident on Medical Center Parkway, a friend of the con-artist was busy during the scam keeping another employee distracted by asking numerous questions.

The incident was all caught on camera, which may lead police to the subjects in the near future. But so far, no arrests have been made.
