Ram Says Avoid These Areas Through Sept. 3rd

In preparation for seasonal changes, construction crews are ramping-up work on projects in order to meet deadlines. City Engineer Ram Balachandran shows areas to avoid today through September 3rd.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street,Ridgley Road and W College Street for construction of the new Overpass. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times. Broadmor Blvd is closed to through traffic for construction work. W Lytle Street and a short segment of College St and Burton St are also closed to traffic for construction work. On Sunday, August 28, 6 am to 11 am, westbound traffic will be shifted to the south side near the newly constructed ramps on Old Fort Parkway and Memorial Blvd. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

W Lytle Street Relocation Project (NW Broad St to Barker St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Final paving and striping work continues on Lytle St. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

W Lytle Street Roadway Improvement Project (Baker St to Church St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: W Lytle Street will be closed to through traffic between Walnut St and Maple St for construction work. On Tuesday, the intersection of W Lytle St and Walnut St will be also closed to through traffic for two weeks. Access to local businesses will be kept open at all times. Message boards and appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Rutherford County Judicial Center Project (between Burton St and Lytle St)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, July 20, 2016 - Friday, March 31, 2017: As part of the Rutherford County Judicial Center construction, Burton St between Maple St and Church St will be closed to traffic to make roadway improvements. Burton St traffic will be detoured onto Lytle St. There will be traffic interruptions and minor lane closures at the intersection of Maple St and Burton for steel and equipment deliveries. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Middle Tennessee Widening Project (Greenland Dr to E Main St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd has been shifted to the east side and reduced to two-lanes two-way between E Main St and Greenland Dr. E Lytle St is closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd. The section of E Lytle St between N Bilbro Ave and Middle Tennessee Blvd is only open to local traffic. Appropriate traffic control signs and message boards will be in place.

TDOT Roadway Improvement Project (Singer Road between NW Broad St and CSX Railroad)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday, March 14 - Wednesday, August 31: The contractor for TDOT will be closing Singer Rd between NW Broad St and CSX Tracks to make roadway improvements. Access to and from businesses and residents will be from Florence Road. Final paving work has begun. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Sewer Pump Station Project (NW Broad St at Battlefield Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 5 pm: Contractor for Water & Sewer Department will be installing sewer lines within TDOT right-of-way/Battlefield Pkwy. A small section of Battlefield Pkwy is closed. Underground bore work continues. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Private Development Utility Work (Crestland Ave just south of Greenland Dr)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing water lines and taps on Crestland Ave just south of Greenland Dr. Traffic on Crestland Ave will eb reduced to one lane flagging operation. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Murfreesboro Water & Sewer Rehabilitation Work

1) Greenland Dr just east of Old Lascassas Rd - 9/1 (night work - 8pm to 5 am)

2) Jackson St - 8/29 & 8/30

3) Hickerson Dr - 8/31

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Wednesday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The contractor for Water & Sewer Department will bemaking sewer manhole repairs. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Water Tie-in Service Work (Hickerson Dr between W Castle St and S Front St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing water line installation work on Hickerson Dr. There will be minor traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Private Development Turn Lane Improvements (N Thompson Ln just east of Leanna Rd)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday & Tuesday, 9:00 am to 2:30 pm: Contractor for a private development will be milling, paving and striping a left turn lane into a private development on N Thompson Ln. A short section of the bike lanes on N Thompson just east of Leanna Rd will be closed during the paving process. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions on Thompson Lane. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

City Urban Environmental Department Tree Removal (E Main St between Apollo Dr and Ragland Ct)

Expected Lane Closures: Thursday, Weather Permitting, 8:30 am to 2:00 pm: Urban Environmental crews will be removing a tree on Middle Tennessee Blvd just south of Frisco St. Northbound traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd will be reduced from two lanes to one lane. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place. Southbound traffic will not be affected.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM: City paving contractor will be raising castings, milling and paving the following streets:

1) Stonehedge Dr & Stonetrace Dr - Paving

There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
