Ram Says "Traffic Jams Ahead"

Not too hot, just enough cool to make construction work more enjoyable. Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns motorists that this ingredient is creating traffic jams in expansion zones. He warns 'Boro motorists of some areas to avoid from today through May 21st.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossing. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to through traffic for utility crossing and general construction work. W Lytle Street and a short segment of College St and Burton St are also closed to traffic for construction work. Retaining wall work continues as part of the southwest and southeast ramps for the new overpass. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Sewer Pump Station Project (NW Broad St at Battlefield Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 5 pm: Contractor for Water & Sewer Department will be installing sewer lines within TDOT right-of-way/Battlefield Pkwy. A small section of Battlefield Pkwy is closed. Underground bore work continues. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

W Lytle Street Relocation Project (NW Broad St to Barker St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Underground utility work continues. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Middle Tennessee Widening Project (Greenland Dr to E Main St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: The contractor has implemented the next phase of the traffic control plan on Middle Tennessee Blvd. Traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd has been shifted to the east side and reduced to two lanes between E Main St and Greenland Dr (near the tennis courts). E Lytle St is closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd. The section of E Lytle St between N Bilbro Ave and Middle Tennessee Blvd are only open to local traffic.

TDOT Roadway Improvement Project (Singer Road between NW Broad St and CSX Railroad)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday, March 14 - Wednesday, August 31: The contractor for TDOT will be closing Singer Rd between NW Broad St and CSX Tracks to make roadway improvements. Access to and from businesses and residents will be from Florence Road. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Private Development Roadway Improvement Work (Veterans Pkwy just north of Old Fort Pkwy)

Expected Minor Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing traffic signal poles on Veterans Pkwy just north of Old Fort Pkwy. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

New Sewer Service Installation Work (Hickerson Dr between W Castle St and S Front St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing sewer service on Hickerson Dr. There will be minor traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Comcast Underground Fiber Installation Project (Asbury Rd at Florence Rd)

Expected No Lane Closures: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm: Contractor for Comcast will be installing underground fiber optic lines along Asbury Rd just west of Florence Rd. Traffic on Asbury Rd and Florence Rd will be affected by this operation. There will be no lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

City of Murfreesboro Traffic Signal Maintenance Work (Broad Street between Mercury Blvd and Florence Rd)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Thursday, Weather Permitting, 8:00 pm to 6:00 pm: City Traffic Signal Contractor will be performing maintenance work on the traffic signals along Broad Street between Mercury Blvd and Florence Rd. There will be minor lane closures and traffic interruptions. All work will be done at night. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Private Development Sewer Tap and Service Connection Work (Hickerson Dr between S Front St and W Castle St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing sewer service lines on Hickerson Dr between S Front St and W Castle St. Traffic will be reduced to one lane flagging operation on Hickerson Dr. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Private Development Turn Lane Improvements (N Thompson Ln just east of Leanna Rd)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be construction a left turn lane into a private development on N Thompson Ln. A short section of the bike lane on N Thompson just east of Leanna Rd will be closed. There will be minor traffic interruptions with no lane closures. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Murfreesboro Water & Sewer Rehabilitation Work

1) Maney Ave at Jackson St - 5/17 & 5/18

2) N Baird Lane (between Alumni Dr and Elrod St - 5/8 & 5/19

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The contractor for Water & Sewer Department will be performing manhole rehabilitation/repairs of the sewer lines. Traffic will be reduced to one lane flagging operation. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
