Ram Warns of Traffic Woes Ahead

Another week of great summer weather, and City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran checks job sites and warns motorists where congestion might occur in Murfreesboro between today and July 12th.

City Construction Projects 

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm:  Sidewalk, base stone and curb & gutter construction work continues on Joe B Jackson Pkwy between S Church St and Stevens Bend Subdivision.  There will be incidental lane closures traffic interruptions for stone and concrete deliveries between 7 am and 8 am.  Installation of inlet structures continues at the intersection of Joe B Jackson and Cedar Road.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Overall Creek Elementary School Roadway Project (Veterans Pkwy at Mooreland Lane)

Expected Road Closures:  Monday through Friday:  Incidental construction and utility work continues at Veterans Pkwy and Kingdom Dr aka Mooreland Lane.  Traffic pattern has changed on Mooreland Lane which now connects Kingdom Dr.  Proper traffic controls will be in place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  6:30 am to 4:30 pm:  Public Utility (Electric) work continues along Veterans Pkwy between Yeargen Rd and Barfield Rd.  Sidewalk, curb and gutter, base stone and storm drain construction work continues on Veterans Pkwy around the Cason Lane and Saint Andrews Dr. areas.  There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Memorial Blvd Walmart Project (just north of Airport Road)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm:  The Traffic Signal Contractor for the project will be installing traffic signal pole foundations.  Southbound traffic on Memorial Blvd will be reduced to one lane at Airport Road.  Northbound traffic will not be affected. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 5:00 am:  There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossings.  There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions.  Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work.  Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street.  W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Water & Sewer Department Re-Use Water Line Repair Work (Medical Center Pkwy between NW Broad St and Jones Blvd)

Expected Lane Closures:  Wednesday, July 910:00 pm to 6:00 am:  City Water & Sewer Department crews will be repairing a re-use water line on Medical Center Pkwy between NW Broad St and Jones Blvd.  This section of Medical Center Pkwy will be closed to through traffic.  Traffic from Memorial Blvd will be detoured onto Jones Blvd.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place. Local residents and businesses will have access to Medical Center Pkwy.

Innsbrooke Blvd Turn Lane Improvement Project

Expected Lane Closures:   Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The contractor for Kroger Development will be adding double left turn lane and median improvement on Innsbrooke Blvd at S Church Street.  There will be lane restrictions and traffic interruptions during construction.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Consolidated Utility District (CUD) Water Line Project (Wilkinson Pike near Blantons Pointe)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The contractor for CUD will be installing a water line on Wilkinson Pike near Blantons Pointe.  There will be intermitten  lane closures  bore work will be doing roadway maintenance work on NW Broad Street just south of Florence Road.  There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (setting up the boring equipment).  Appropriate traffic controls and will be in place.

Memorial Blvd Mill and Overlay TDOT Project (between Byrd Ave and Thompson Lane/Compton Lane)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday: 8:00 pm to 5:00 am: The contractor for TDOT will be cold planning, signalization and paving operations between Byrd Ave and Thompson Lane.  There will be alternating lane closures and traffic interruptions.  One lane will remain open in each direction on Memorial Blvd.  Appropriate traffic controls and will be in place. All work will be done at night.
