Ram's "Heads Up" On Road Problems Through August 3rd

Between now and August 3rd, City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns there are some Murfreesboro roads that will be more "user friendly" than others. Here's his "head's up" for motorists.

City Construction Projects

Atmos Energy Project (W College Street/Old Nashville Highway between Thompson Lane and Florence Road)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  Atmos Energy will be replacing high pressure steel main lines on the east side if W College St/Old Nashville Highway between Thompson Lane and Florence Road.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions on W College Street/Old Nashville Highway.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

N Thompson Lane at Sulphur Springs Road Intersection Improvement Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  Traffic signal work continues at this intersection.  There will be minor traffic interruptions.  Proper traffic controls will be in place.

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm:  Storm drain, grading and Bridge construction work continues on Joe B Jackson Pkwy on the east side between County Farm Road and Butler Drive/Elam Road.  Utility road crossing and water line work resumes on Joe B Jackson Pkwy between S Church Street and County Farm Road.  AT&T, Atmos Energy and CUD crews will also be doing underground and overhead utility work on Joe B Jackson Pkwy.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Singer Road Widening Project (between Florence Road and NW Broad Street)

Expected Road Closures:  June 19 through July 31:  The contractor for a private development will be doing roadway improvements on Singer Road between Florence Road and CSX Railroad.  This section of Singer Road will be closed to through traffic.  Access to local residents and businesses on Singer Road will be kept open at all times. Asphalt paving and curb & gutter work continues. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

S Church Street Sidewalk Repair/Upgrade Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 7:30 pm to 6:00 am:  The contractor for City Engineering Department will be repairing and/or replacing existing sidewalks along S Church Street between I-24 and NW Broad Street.  Work entails removing and replacing existing damaged concrete sidewalk.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions on S Church Street.  All work will be done at night.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Murfreesboro Water & Sewer Projects (Kenneth Ave)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  8:00 am to 4:00 pm:  The contractor for the Water and Sewer Department will be doing sanitary sewer replacement work on Kenneth Ave.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.    

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM:  City milling, paving, striping and casting crews will be working on the following streets and subdivisions:  Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions during these operations.

Glenwood Dr, Lawndale Dr, Turfland Dr, Spencer St, Wellington Dr., Turfland Ct, Cascade Ct, Graybar Lane, Blair St, Iriquois Ct, Fieldstone Ct, Keenland Ct, Bold Ruler Ct, Elora Ct, Kensington Dr, January St, February St, Smith St, Power Ave, Searcy St, Warrant St, Tune Ave, Commercial Ct and Industrial Dr, and Cannon St.
