City Engineer Ram Balachadran wants to help Murfreesboro motorists enjoy endless Independence Days without traffic congestion. Here are his analytical predictions today through July 11th.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm: Work continues on Veterans Pkwy between Yeargan Road and Barfield Road. At the intersection of Veterans Pkwy and Barfield Road, east and west bound traffic will be shifted to the north and construction will begin on the south side. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossing. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work. Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street. W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

TDOT Intersection Improvements on Old Fort Pkwy at Market Place

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: Pavement marking and incidental grading work continues on Old Fort Pkwy. There will be minor traffic interruptions. One lane will remain open in each direction. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Rutherford County, TDOT resurfacing of I-24 from east of SR 840 to Stones River Bridge

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: Contractor for Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will be paving and striping I-24 between SR 840 and Stones River Bridge. There will be alternating lane closures on I-24 in both directions, from mile marker 75 to mile marker 79, in order to pave and stripe the roadway. At least one lane will remain open in each direction. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place. The I-24 eastbound on- and off-ramps at Medical Center Parkway and SR 96 will be temporarily closed in order to pave the roadway

Final Paving and Pavement Markings Work (Battalion Blvd, Swanholme Dr, Victory Station Way & Shortcut Dr)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm: The contractor for Swanson Development LP will be installing final paving and pavement markings on Battalion Blvd, Swanholme Dr, Victory Station Way and Shortcut Dr. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions during the paving and striping operations. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Sewer Force Main Project (NW Broad St just south of Van Cleve Ln)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 5:30 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for Water & Sewer Department will be installing a 2" sewer Force Main within TDOT right-of-way. All work will be done on the west side of NW Broad St. There will be no lane closures or traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Private Development Turn Lane Improvement Project (Joe B Jackson Pkwy between Elam Farms Pkwy and Elam Rd)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing a right turn lane on Joe B Jackson Pkwy. West bound traffic on Joe B Jackson Pkwy between Elam Farms Pkwy and Elam Rd will be reduced to one lane. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Rutherford County, TDOT Ramp Improvements at Interchange of I-24 East and Exit 81A (US 231/SR10/S Church St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: Contractor for Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will making ramp improvements. There will be lane closures on the I-24 eastbound off-ramp at Exit 81 and on S Church St southbound at the top of the ramp in order for crews to set barrier rail and attenuators. Traffic will be shifted onto the existing shoulder of the off-ramp and the left lane of S Church St. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM: City contractor will be lowering the castings/utility boxes on Rutherford Blvd between Ransom Dr and E Main St. Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions during these operations.
