February is here and spring can't be too far away. City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran notes better weather translates to more crews on the street. Here are potential "traffic challenges" today through February 8th.

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm:  Storm pipe installation work continues on the north side of Joe B Jackson Pkwy between S Church Street and Parson Road.  Utility service connection work continues along Joe B Jackson between S Church Street and Stevens Bend Road.  There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Overall Creek Elementary School Roadway Project (Veterans Pkwy at Mooreland Lane)

Expected Road Closures:  September 3^rd 2013 through June 21^st 2014:  Mooreland Lane at Veterans Pkwy closed in preparation for the new roadway construction and utility work.  All traffic to and from Veterans Pkwy and Mooreland Lane will be detoured through State Route 96 and Rucker Lane.  Proper traffic controls will be in place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  6:30 am to 4:30 pm:  Utility work continues along Veterans Pkwy.  There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Private Overhead Sign Installation Project (N Frontage Road at Stones River Pl)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm: The contractor for Lamar Signage Company will be installing an overhead billboard sign at the northwest corner of N Frontage Road and Stones River Pl.  Stones River Pl will be reduced to one lane with flagman directing traffic during the sign removal.  Appropriate traffic controls and will be in place.

Murfreesboro Electric Department Sub-Station Project (N Rutherford Blvd near MTSU Blvd)

Expected Road Closures: Wednesday: 8:00 pm to 1:00 am: The contractor for Murfreesboro Electric Department will be delivering oversized electrical equipment to the new MED sub-station just north of MTSU Blvd.  Both northbound lanes on Rutherford Blvd near MTSU Blvd will be closed intermittently between 8:00 pm and 1:00 am.  Appropriate traffic controls and will be in place. Southbound lanes will not be affected.
