If you're out and about in the 'Boro between today and August 8th, Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns potential areas to avoid gridlock conditions.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm: Work continues on Veterans Pkwy between Yeargan Road and Barfield Road. At the intersection of Veterans Pkwy and Barfield Road, east and west bound traffic will be shifted to the north and construction will begin on the south side. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossing. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work. Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street. W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Rutherford County, TDOT resurfacing of I-24 from east of SR 840 to Stones River Bridge

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: Contractor for Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will be paving and striping I-24 between SR 840 and Stones River Bridge. There will be alternating lane closures on I-24 in both directions, from mile marker 75 to mile marker 79, in order to pave and stripe the roadway. At least one lane will remain open in each direction. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place. Friday July 31, 8PM through Monday August 3 at 5AM, There will be lane closures on I-24 westbound at the bridge over Overall Creek (approximately MM 75.5) and at the bridge over Stones River (approximately MM 79) in order to repair expansion joints. At least two lanes will remain open. There will also be a lane closure on I-24 westbound on-ramp from Medical Center Parkway to provide a smoother transition into the interstate lane closure.

Rutherford County, TDOT resurfacing of SR 840 from near I-24 to West Fork Stones River Bridge

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: Contractor for Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will be paving and striping SR 840 between I-24 and Stones River Bridge. There will be alternating lane closures on SR 840 in both directions, from mile marker 53 to mile marker 55 , in order to mill and pave the roadway. At least one lane will remain open in each direction. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Final Paving and Pavement Markings Work (Battalion Blvd, Swanholme Dr, Victory Station Way & Shortcut Dr)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm: The contractor for Swanson Development LP will be installing final pavement markings on Battalion Blvd, Swanholme Dr, Victory Station Way and Shortcut Dr. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions during the paving and striping operations. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
Sewer Force Main Project (NW Broad St just south of Van Cleve Ln)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 5:30 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for Water & Sewer Department will be installing a 2" sewer Force Main within TDOT right-of-way. All work will be done on the west side of NW Broad St. There will be no lane closures or traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Rutherford County, TDOT Ramp Improvements at Interchange of I-24 East and Exit 81A (US 231/SR10/S Church St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: Contractor for Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will making ramp improvements. Traffic is shifted onto the existing shoulder of the off-ramp. Traffic on the southbound side of S Church Street has been shifted approximately 4 feet to set barrier rail and allow for demolition and replacement of the existing concrete shoulder and ramp. Traffic will return to the original configuration just past the existing ramp and before Westgate Blvd. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Private Development Water and Sewer Line Installation Project (E Main St between Baird Ln and College Heights St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing water and sewer lines on E Main St between Baird Ln and College Heights St. Two lane of traffic will be maintained on E Main Street. On Monday, July 20, water line tap work will begin at 6:00 am at the intersection of E Main St and Baird Ln. There will be no lane closures on E Main St. Traffic on Baird Ln will be reduced to one lane with flagging operation. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Transportation Department New Traffic Signal Project (Old Fort Pkwy at Covenant Blvd/Brinkley Road)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm: City Traffic Signal Contractor will be installing signal pole foundations, underground conduits and overhead signal cables at the intersection of Old Fort Pkwy and Covenant Blvd/Brinkley Road. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Private Development Turn Lane Improvement Project (Medical Center Pkwy near Gresham Park Dr)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday & Wednesday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be removing the curb and paving a right turn lane on Medical Center Pkwy just east of Gresham Park Dr. There will be short lane closures and minor traffic interruptions on Medical Center Pkwy westbound. Eastbound traffic will not be affected. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Murfreesboro Electric Department Median Electrical Work (Medical Center Pkwy between Conference Center Pkwy and Asbury Lane)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm: Murfreesboro Electric Department crews will perform electrical work in the median on Medical Center Pkwy between Conference Center Blvd and Asbury Lane. Approximately 500 feet of the westbound left-hand third lane on Medical Center Pkwy will be closed between Conference Center Pkwy and Asbury Lane. Eastbound traffic will not be affected. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Private Development Utility Installation Project (Manson Crossing )

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing utilities on Manson Crossing near Puckett Creek Crossing. Manson Crossing will be closed to traffic during the work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

City Urban environmental Department Tree Trimming Work (W Northfield Blvd near Jones Blvd)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday, 8:00 am to Noon: City Urban Environmental Departmental crews will be trimming trees on W Northfield Blvd eastbound near Jones Blvd. Traffic on eastbound lane will be reduced to one lane. Westbound lane will not be affected. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
Annual City Street Paving Project
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 7:00 PM - 6:00 AM: City contractor will be milling Rutherford Blvd between Ransom Dr and Bradyville Pike, a short curb and gutter section on Rutherford Blvd at Mercury Blvd and at E. Main St. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
