Ram's Potential Traffic Snarls NOW through Nov. 16th

Wooly worms, frost on the pumpkin, falling leaves--all point to a new season. City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns where construction crews might create traffic challenges in an effort to complete their project before winter. This report covers from today through November 16th.

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm:  Storm drain,underground utility, curb and bridge construction work continues on Joe B Jackson Pkwy on the east side (Stevens Bend Subdivision) between County Farm Road and Butler Drive/Elam Road.  The section of Joe B Jackson between County Farm and Stevens Bend Drive will be closed.  Atmos Energy will be installing gas lines from County Farm Road east through the Stevens Bend Subdivision and service lines west to S. Church Street.  On Saturday, November 9, there will be traffic interruptions and lane closures on Joe B Jackson for bridge beam deliveries.  Appropriate detours and traffic controls will be in place.

Overall Creek Elementary School Roadway Project (Veterans Pkwy at Mooreland Lane)

Expected Road Closures:  September 3rd 2013 through June 21st 2014:  Mooreland Lane at Veterans Pkwy closed in preparation for the new roadway construction and utility work.  All traffic to and from Veterans Pkwy and Mooreland Lane will be detoured through State Route 96 and Rucker Lane.  Proper traffic controls will be in place.

The Pointe at Eastdale Development (Bradyville Pike near S Rutherford Blvd)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  8:30 am to 2:30 pm:  The contractor for a private development will be constructing turn lanes at the new entrance driveway on Bradyville Pike near S Rutherford Blvd.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Murfreesboro Water & Sewer Department Project (Walnut Street between College St and Main St)

Expected No Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  The contractor for the Water and Sewer Department will be extending sewer lines and sewer tie-ins on Walnut Street between College Street and Main Street.  Walnut Street will be closed to through traffic. Access to the local businesses on Walnut Street will be kept open at all times.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Turn Lane Improvement Work (Covenant Blvd)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  8:30 am to 2:30 pm:  Contractor of a private development will be putting in a left turn lane on Covenant Blvd.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

CSXT Crossing at Middle Tennessee Blvd

Expected Road Closures:  Monday, November 11:   CSX will be closing Middle Tennessee Blvd at the CSX railroad crossing for track and pavement repair work.  Middle Tennessee Blvd will be closed to through traffic.  Traffic will be detoured on SE Broad Street and Rutherford Blvd.  CSX will be responsible for appropriate traffic controls and detours signs.
