We're in the time of year that there are fits and spasms between winter or spring. Traffic challenges due to construction projects are that way too. City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns where to avoid between now and April 4th.

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm: Incidental work continues along Joe B Jackson Pkwy and along S Church Street. There will be partial lane closures and minor traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm: Box culvert and storm drain work continues on Veterans Pkwy. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossing. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work. Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street. W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

New Walmart Project (S Church Street at Joe B Jackson Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Traffic signal work continues at S Church Street and Tiger Hill. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions for slope and median grading work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

TDOT Intersection Improvements on Old Fort Pkwy at Market Place

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be lane closures on Old Fort Pkwy for median and turn lane modification work, grinding, removal and realignment of pavement markings. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. One lane will remain open in each direction. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Sewer Force Main Project (Tune Ave, Searcy St and Warrant St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Contractor for Water &Sewer Department will be installing force sewer main lines at Tune Ave, Searcy St and Warrant Street. Warrant St will be closed to through traffic. These streets will be reduced to one lane with flagging operation. Local resident will have access at all times. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Murfreesboro Electric Department Utility Pole Work (Just south of Perimeter Place Dr)

Expected Road Closures: Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for Murfreesboro Electric Department will be replacing a damaged utility pole on the east side of S Church Street just south of Perimeter Place Dr. Northbound traffic on S Church St will be reduced from 3 lanes to 2 lanes for approximately 1000 feet south of Perimeter Place Dr. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Water & Sewer Department Sewer Rehabilitation Work

1) Sulphur Springs Road between Ravenwood Dr and Haynes Drive

2) Haynes Drive just west of Memorial Blvd

3) Haynes Drive between Wendellwood Dr and Regency Park Dr

Expected Lane Closures: Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 3, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm: The contractor for Water &Sewer Department will be performing sewer rehabilitation work (cleaned and televised) on Sulphur Spring Drive between Ravenwood Drive and Haynes Drive and on Haynes Drive between Wendellwood Dr and Regency Park Dr. The center turn continuous lane on Sulphur Springs Road will be closed. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained on Sulphur Springs Road throughout the project with intermittent traffic interruptions and flagging operation at intersecting streets. On Haynes Drive, traffic will be reduced to one lane with flagging operation. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place. On Monday, March 30, between 8 pm and 9 pm, sewer rehabilitation work will be done at the intersection of Haynes Drive and Memorial Blvd. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
