Construction crews continue at a record pace to keep up with the needs of Tennessee's fastest growing city. Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns motorists where challenges might be today through the end of August. 

City Construction Projects

Atmos Energy Project (W College Street/Old Nashville Highway between Thompson Lane and Florence Road)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  Atmos Energy will be replacing high pressure steel main lines on the east side if W College St/Old Nashville Highway between Thompson Lane and Florence Road.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions on W College Street/Old Nashville Highway.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm:  Storm drain, grading and Bridge construction work continues on Joe B Jackson Pkwy on the east side between County Farm Road and Butler Drive/Elam Road.  Utility road crossing, water line and gas line work resumes on Joe B Jackson Pkwy between S Church Street and County Farm Road.  AT&T, Atmos Energy and CUD crews will also be doing underground and overhead utility work on Joe B Jackson Pkwy.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions at Annell Dr, Cedar Dr, Dorothy Dr and Stevens Bend Dr.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Murfreesboro Water & Sewer Department Projects (Kenneth Ave, W Main St at Bridge Ave)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  8:00 am to 4:00 pm:  The contractor for the Water and Sewer Department will be doing sanitary sewer replacement work on Kenneth Ave.  On Friday, August 30, W Main St will be closed at Bridge Ave for water line installation work.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

United Telephone Overhead Utility Relocation Project (NW Broad St at Ridgely Rd, Memorial Blvd at Ridgely Rd, Ridgely Rd, St Clair St, Walnut Dr and Burton Drive)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  9:00 am to 3:00 pm:  The contractor will be doing overhead utility relocation work on Ridgely Rd, St Clair St, Walnut Dr and Burton Dr.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

S Church Street Sidewalk Repair/Upgrade Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm:  Incidental sidewalk repair work continuous along S Church Street between I-24 and NW Broad Street.  Work entails removing and replacing existing damaged concrete sidewalk.  There will be minor lane closures and traffic interruptions on S Church Street.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Medical Center Pkwy (between Gateway Blvd and Joe Knight Dr)

Expected Lane Closures:  Tuesday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm:  Contractor for City Urban Environmental Department will be mulching on Medical Center Pkwy.  There will be a moving lane closures and traffic interruptions on Medical Center Pkwy.  Proper traffic controls will be in place.

Overall Creek Elementary School Roadway Project (Veterans Pkwy at Mooreland Lane)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  Contractor for City of Murfreesboro Engineering Department will be closing Mooreland Lane at Veterans Pkwy on Monday, August 26 in preparation for the new roadway construction and utility work.  All traffic to and from Veterans Pkwy and Mooreland Lane will be detoured through Old Salem Road and Rucker Lane.  Proper traffic controls will be in place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM:  City milling, paving, striping and casting crews will be working on the following streets and subdivisions:  Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions during these operations.

Tinnell Ct, Myers Dr, Jones Blvd, Grassmere Dr, Garden Ct, Sheila Ct, Pinehill Ct, Hillmont Dr, Elk River Dr, Briar Ct, Squire Ct, Eaton Dr, Robert Rose Dr, State St, Bayard Ave, and Verde Ct.
