The crisp fall mornings let us know that as the season changes, construction projects are nearing the end of their dependable working weather. City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns of potential "traffic hot spots" now through November 1st.

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm: Driveway ramp and sidewalk work continues along Joe B Jackson Pkwy between Stevens Bend Road and S Church Street. Asphalt binder course work continues between Stevens Bend Subdivision and S Church St. Traffic signal/loop cutting work begins on Joe B Jackson Pkwy. There will be partial lane closures and lane shifts. There will be incidental lane closures traffic interruptions for stone and concrete deliveries between 7 am and 8 am. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm: Utility installations, storm drain, box culvert and fill material work continues on Veterans Pkwy. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Traffic on Veterans will be shifted to the south side. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 5:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossing. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work. Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street. W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

College Street Private Water Line Tie-in Work

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing a water line across E College St between Maney Ave and Academy St. E College St will be reduced to one lane near the work area with flagging operation. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

XO Communication Fiber Project

1 College St between Spring St and Highland Ave

2 Highland Ave between College St and Bell St

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 2:00 pm: Contractor for XO Communications will be installing underground fiber optic lines on College St between Spring St & Maney Ave, Highland Ave between College St and Bell St and Bell St just east of Highland Ave. There will be partial lane closures and traffic interruptions. Directional drilling equipment will be setup at the on College St near Spring St and Highland Ave near Bell St. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Florence Road CSX Track Work (just west of NW Broad Street)

Expected Road Closures: Tuesday, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm: The contractor for CSX will be doing track work on Florence Road just west of NW Broad Street. Florence Road will be closed to through traffic. Access to local residents and businesses on Florence Road will be from Singer Road. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

New Walmart Project (S Church Street at Joe B Jackson Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Saturday: Contractor for Walmart will be making roadway improvements (adding turn lanes and traffic signals) on S Church Street and on Joe B Jackson Pkwy. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Sewer Line Installation Project (Saint Andrews Dr just south of Shady Forest Dr)

Expected NO Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Contractor for a private development will begin installing signage and traffic control elements on Saint Andrews Dr just south of Shady Forest Dr for the sewer line installation work. There will be minor traffic interruptions and no lane closures. On November 3, the sewer line installation work will begin. Saint Andrews Dr will be reduced to one lane with a temporary traffic control signal. Appropriate timing, signage and markings will be in-place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM: City casting, milling, paving crews will be working on the following streets: Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions.

Damsel Ct between Kings Ridge and Curb & Gutter Section

Tullock Trl between Riverstone Dr and Cul-de-Sac
