City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran checked his construction projects and released the areas motorists might choose to avoid all of this week.

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm:  Utility and curb & gutter construction work continues on Joe B Jackson Pkwy between S Church St and Stevens Bend Subdivision.  There will be incidental lane closures traffic interruptions for stone and concrete deliveries between 7 am and 8 am.  Installation of inlet structures continues at the intersection of Joe B Jackson and Cedar Road.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Overall Creek Elementary School Roadway Project (Veterans Pkwy at Mooreland Lane)

Expected Road Closures:  Monday through Friday:  Incidental construction and utility work continues at Veterans Pkwy and Kingdom Dr aka Mooreland Lane.  Traffic pattern has changed on Mooreland Lane which now connects Kingdom Dr.  Proper traffic controls will be in place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  6:30 am to 4:30 pm:  Public Utility (Electric) work continues along Veterans Pkwy between Yeargen Rd and Barfield Rd.  Sidewalk, curb and gutter and base stone construction work continues on Veterans Pkwy around the Cason Lane and Saint Andrews Dr. areas.  There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Memorial Blvd Walmart Project (just north of Airport Road)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm:  The Traffic Signal Contractor for the project will be installing traffic signal pole foundations.  Southbound traffic on Memorial Blvd will be reduced to one lane at Airport Road.  Northbound traffic will not be affected. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 5:00 am:  There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossings.  There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions.  Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work.  Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street.  W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Engineering Department Storm Drain Crossing Work (W Clark Blvd between Woodland St and Grantland Ave)

Expected Lane Closures:  June 9 – June 30, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm:  The contractor for Engineering Department will be installing storm drain on W Clark Blvd between Woodland St and Grantland Ave.  Traffic to and from W Clark Blvd will be detoured on Woodland St, Sunset Ave, Allen Dr and back onto W Clark Blvd.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place. Local residents will have access to W Clark Blvd at all times.

 

Murfreesboro Urban Environmental Landscape Maintenance Project (Middle Tennessee Blvd between E Main St and Mercury Blvd)

Expected Lane Closures:   Monday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm: The contractor for City of Murfreesboro Urban Environmental Department will be mulching around the median on Medical Center Pkwy between Warren St and I-24 on Tuesday &Wednesday and on Middle Tennessee Blvd Thursday & Friday.  The inside lane next to the median will be closed as a moving operation.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Roadway Maintenance Project (just south of Florence Road)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday6:30 am to 5:00 pm: Construction crews will be doing roadway maintenance work on NW Broad Street just south of Florence Road.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions on the northbound lanes of NW Broad Street.  Southbound lanes will be affected.  Appropriate traffic controls and will be in place.

Memorial Blvd Mill and Overlay TDOT Project (between Byrd Ave and Thompson Lane/Compton Lane)

Expected Lane Closures:  Wednesday8:00 pm to 5:00 am: In preparation of the upcoming milling and re-paving project on Memorial Blvd, construction crews will be lowering the castings between Byrd Ave and Thompson Lane.  There will be alternating lane closures and traffic interruptions.  Appropriate traffic controls and will be in place.  All work will be done at night.
