Ram's "Summer's Ending" Traffic Warning Thru Sept. 6th

It's the Labor Day weekend, and with many that signifies the end of summer as well as a hurry-up signal to construction workers on a deadline. City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns of potential traffic hot spots to avoid between now and September 6th.

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm: Storm drain, sidewalk, driveway ramp, natural gas and asphalt binder work continues along Joe B Jackson Pkwy between Stevens Bend Road and S Church Street. There will be incidental lane closures traffic interruptions for stone and concrete deliveries between 7 am and 8 am. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm: Placing base stone material on the south side of Veterans Pkwy out of traffic area. Utility pole installations, storm drain, curb and gutter work continues between Yeargan Rd and Cason Lane. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Memorial Blvd Walmart Project (just north of Airport Road)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The Traffic Signal Contractor for the project will be installing traffic signal equipment on Memorial Blvd. There will be alternating lane closures northbound and southbound on Memorial Blvd at Airport Road. Traffic on Airport Road is shifted to the south side and the contractor will be working on the north side. Right turning lane work continues along Memorial Blvd. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 5:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossings. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work. Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street. W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Innsbrooke Blvd Turn Lane Improvement Project

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The contractor for Kroger Development will be adding double left turn lane, median improvements, and traffic signal work at the intersection of Innsbrooke Blvd at S Church Street. There will be lane restrictions and traffic interruptions during construction. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Ewing Blvd Sewer Force Main Project (between Crossway Ave and East Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday: Contractor for Water &Sewer Department will be installing force sewer main lines on Ewing Blvd between Crossway Ave and East Street. Ewing Blvd will be closed to through traffic. Local residents will have access at all times. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
