Have you noticed more traffic jams? Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns that construction crews are stepping-up work on projects in an effort to complete them on-time. Here are his areas to avoid now through October 1st.

City Construction Projects

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for construction of the new Overpass. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times. Broadmor Blvd is closed to through traffic for construction work. W Lytle Street at Broad St is also closed to traffic for construction work. Westbound traffic has be shifted to the south side near the newly constructed ramps on Old Fort Parkway and Memorial Blvd. Northbound traffic on Broad St at Memorial Blvd has been shifted all the way to the east side onto new pavement. Appropriate traffic controls are be in place.

W Lytle Street Roadway Improvement Project (Baker St to Church St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: W Lytle Street will be closed to through traffic between Walnut St and Maple St for construction work. On Monday, the intersection of W Lytle St and Walnut St will be also closed to through traffic for two weeks. Access to local businesses will be kept open at all times. Message boards and appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Rutherford County Judicial Center Project (between Burton St and Lytle St)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, July 20, 2016 - Friday, March 31, 2017: As part of the Rutherford County Judicial Center construction, Burton St between Maple St and Church St will be closed to traffic to make roadway improvements. Burton St traffic will be detoured onto Lytle St. There will be traffic interruptions and minor lane closures at the intersection of Maple St and Burton for steel and equipment deliveries. On Monday & Friday, N Maple St between Burton St and Lytle St will be closed to through traffic. On Thursday, Church St between Burton St and Lytle St will be closed. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Middle Tennessee Widening Project (Greenland Dr to E Main St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd has been shifted to the east side and reduced to two-lanes two-way between E Main St and Greenland Dr. E Lytle St is closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd. The section of E Lytle St between N Bilbro Ave and Middle Tennessee Blvd is only open to local traffic. Appropriate traffic control signs and message boards will be in place.

Sewer Pump Station Project (NW Broad St at Battlefield Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 5 pm: Contractor for Water & Sewer Department will be installing sewer lines within TDOT right-of-way/Battlefield Pkwy. A small section of Battlefield Pkwy is closed. Underground bore work continues. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Murfreesboro Water & Sewer Rehabilitation Work

1) Sulphur Springs Rd between Tomahawk Trace to Ravenwood Drive

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday & Thursday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The contractor for Water & Sewer Department will be making sewer manhole repairs on Sulphur Springs Rd between Tomahawk Trace to Ravenwood Dr. The continuous center turn lane on Sulphur Springs Road will be closed. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Comcast Overhead Fiber Optic Installation Work (New Salem Hwy and Salem Ct)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Comcast crews will be installing overhead fiber optic lines at the intersection of New Salem Hwy and Salem Ct. There will be partial lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Maple Street Alley Reconstruction Project (between W Main St and W Vine St)

Expected Lane Closures: Sunday, September 25, 6 am to Noon: W Main St between Walnut St and Maple St (Public Square) will be closed to through traffic electrical construction work. Eastbound traffic on W Main St will be detoured around the public square onto Walnut St, Vine St and Church St. Traffic detour signs and appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM: City paving contractor will be raising castings, milling and paving the following streets:

1) Stonetrace Dr, Stonehedge Dr, Tides Ridge Ct, Waywood Ct, Shady Grove Cove, Shady Grove Dr, Tides Ridge Cove, Cason Ln at Cason Tr, Dow St, Highland Terrace and possibly Kings Hwy from Hwy 96 to Bridge Ave - Casting Work

2) Cason Lane at Cason Trail - Milling work on Friday

3) Glenhaven Dr and Fern Dr - Paving work on Friday

There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
