Warm weather and the traffic is stalling. Tempers are jumping, and motorists are struggling. City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns of potential challenges to avoid today through August 30th.

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm: On Monday, traffic will be switched to the north side on Joe B Jackson Pkwy between S Church Street and Parson Road. Sidewalk, driveway ramp, natural gas and asphalt binder work continues along Joe B Jackson Pkwy between Parson Road and S Church Street. There will be incidental lane closures traffic interruptions for stone and concrete deliveries between 7 am and 8 am. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm: Placing base stone material on the south side of Veterans Pkwy out of traffic area. Utility pole installations, storm drain, curb and gutter work continues between Yeargan Rd and Cason Lane. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Memorial Blvd Walmart Project (just north of Airport Road)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The Traffic Signal Contractor for the project will be installing traffic signal equipment on Memorial Blvd. There will be alternating lane closures northbound and southbound on Memorial Blvd at Airport Road. Traffic on Airport Road is shifted to the south side and the contractor will be working on the north side. Right turning lane work continues along Memorial Blvd. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 5:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossings. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work. Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street. W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Innsbrooke Blvd Turn Lane Improvement Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The contractor for Kroger Development will be adding double left turn lane, median improvements, and traffic signal work at the intersection of Innsbrooke Blvd at S Church Street. There will be lane restrictions and traffic interruptions during construction. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Ewing Blvd Sewer Force Main Project (between Crossway Ave and East Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Contractor for Water &Sewer Department will be installing force sewer main lines on Ewing Blvd between Crossway Ave and East Street. Ewing Blvd will be closed to through traffic. Local residents will have access at all times. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Private Development Sewer Tie-in Project (near Florence Road and Santana Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday: Contractor for a private development will be installing sewer lines on Santana Street near Florence Road. Santana Street will be reduced to one-lane flagging operation. Local residents will have access at all times. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Murfreesboro Electric Utility Work (Veterans Pkwy just west of S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday & Tuesday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm: The contractor for Murfreesboro Electric Department will be working on the utility pole on the south side of Veterans Pkwy near S Church Street. Eastbound traffic on Veterans Pkwy near S Church Street will be reduced to one lane. Westbound traffic will not be affected. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Decorative Crosswalk Installation Work (Greenland Dr at Champion Way & Greenland Dr at Blue Raider Dr)

Expected Lane Closures: Saturday, August 23: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm: The contractor for MTSU will be installing decorative crosswalks at the intersection of Greenland Dr & Champion Way and Greenland Dr & Blue Raider Dr. Traffic on Greenland Drive will be reduced to one-lane operation flagging operation. There will be traffic interruptions and lane shifts. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Northfield Blvd (between Memorial Blvd and Village Court)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for City Urban Environmental Department will be mulching the median on Northfield Blvd. There will be a moving lane closures and traffic interruptions on Northfield Blvd. Proper traffic controls will be in place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM: City paving crews will be working on the following streets: Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions.
