Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Rape Accomplice Arrested in Nashville

Metro Nashville detectives have identified the alleged accomplice of accused robber and rapist Olbin Euceda.

Rony Sorto, 23, who is believed to be a native of El Salvador, is charged with the November 20th robbery of a couple at their apartment in the Overlook complex on Bell Road, during which Euceda is alleged to have raped the couple’s eleven-year-old daughter. Sorto is also believed to be responsible for two robberies that occurred in Smyrna. Smyrna Police were notified and that case is now being investigated.

The victims in these crimes were of Hispanic descent. Assistance to police from the Hispanic community ultimately led to the identification of both defendants.
