Literacy March Draws Crowd

Several hundred persons participated in Read to Succeed's Literacy March Saturday morning from Central Magnet School to the Murfreesboro Civic Plaza.

Olive Branch Church Pastor Vincent Windrow (left photo) was one of the coordinators for the event. He told WGNS News who was involved in the march . . .

About READ TO SUCCEED

Read To Succeed is a community partnership that was created to promote the importance of literacy here in Rutherford County. Its goal is to connect acrea schools, agencies and businesses, so that they can endorse, encourage and nurture the benefits of being able to read.  Visit their website: www.ReadToSucceed.org 

Once the group arrived at the Civic Plaza, Read To Succeed had family activities, vendors showing the importance of literacy, as well as food and attractions for youngsters. Linebaugh's Head Librarian Rita Shacklett, her husband Bill who is on the literacy group's executive committee, United Way CEO Brian Hercules along with Read To Succeeds Executive Director Lisa Mitchell were in the front of the march that made it way to the library.
