Residents Voice Concerns On WGNS

Wednesday's WGNS Action Line was devoted to residents who had concerns about issues anywhere in Rutherford County. Here are their comments:   

Hopefully, the proper authorities will help to resolve these concerns: 

Halls Hill Pike (where new sidewalk is located) the water does not flow into the drainage and ponds on the road.  Debris covers the drainage and water is standing causing hazard for motorists.

Bradyville Pike (next to commercial building at Minerva Drive at Bradyville Pike, back yard is full of standing water). Also, much junk in the back yards of area homes.

High water up to front door on Old Nashville Highway near 840. Something needs to be done quick.  It has never gotten this high this quick.

Evergreen Cemetery:  Greenland Drive cemetery water is getting high in the new area…the water is nearing grave sites.

THANK YOU for barricades on vacant lot at Warrior Drive at S. Church St.

FRANKLIN ROAD (96W): always inconsiderate and rude drivers at John Rice Blvd./Cason Lane intersection. They will not stop on “red light”.  You can’t when you get “green light”.  They put a camera up there once and after a few days, it was removed. 

Miss J.R. called and has drainage problem at 1015 Leaf Avenue. Her front yard and neighbor’s yards are flooded. City says this is a 3-decade problem and a ditch won’t correct it. City has corrected it in area, but agree this needs to be done as well.  They keep adding blacktop and water runs into yards. Sidewalks are covered with water.

Move judicial building off the square.  No parking.  Prisoners outside on the streets are poor PR for visitors to see.  Put criminal courts at the jail on the New Salem Highway.

BIKE LANES: in early days you rode on should facing traffic and you could see what was coming toward you. Now some lanes are in the middle of road and causing bike vs vehicle accidents.

COMMON SENSE/WASTE OF MONEY council approved $280,000 to buy new golf carts.  Listeners concerned that it could have been put on back burner until economy improves.

NAMES ON BRIDGES: Get a bridge named after Lt. Henry Carlton who served on MPD for 26-years. He helped farmers, citizens and others.
