The Riverdale Lady Warriors basketball team has been recognized by the Tour of Champions as the No. 1 high school girls basketball team in the country.
Representatives from the the Army National Guard and MaxPreps visited the school on Wednesday to present the national trophy. They were greeted by 2,000 screaming students, cheerleaders, band members and teachers.
Riverdale earned the top ranked spot out 20,000 high school girls basketball teams in the country.
Riverdale brought home its second consecutive state basketball championship with its 78-69 win over Science Hill on March 9, at Middle Tennessee State University.
It's the team's third championship in the past four years. Riverdale also won the championship in 2007. The Lady Warriors brought home the championship to cap an undefeated season (35-0) and with a 58-game win streak.
The Lady Warriors are 133-7 over the past four years and have been to the state championship game each season.
