Fire caused heavy damage to a mobile home about 4:15 p.m. Monday (1/13/14) on Old Woodbury Highway, said Chief Larry Farley of Rutherford County Fire Rescue.

Firefighters from Rutherford County Fire Rescue and Kittrell and Lascassas Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the home where they found light smoke coming from the residence, he said.

“The residence was a mobile home that had been remodeled and additions were also added on,” Chief Farley reported. “This made it very difficult to find hidden hot spots.”

Fire caused the center of the home to cave in, resulting in heavy damage. Firefighters were on the scene about three hours. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The American Red Cross responded to help the family.
