The suspects are accused of stealing more than $10,000 worth of jewelry, firearms and electronic equipment from November to January in rural areas of the county. Two suspects are considered areer criminals because of their lengthy criminal record.

"Burglars who break into homes sometimes make the victims feel violated and unsettled," Sheriff Arnold said. "We are glad we can catch these scourges on society. We hope these thieves who have committed these crimes to people in the past and present will get lengthy sentences from the judges so they won't victimize innocent people."

Detectives developed the suspects and in two cases, the Sheriff's Fugitive Unit spent 200 man-hours tracking the suspects. The four remaining suspects were charged after investigations by multiple law enforcement agencies.

"The cooperation among the law enforcement agencies show excellent investigations to arrest and prosecute these thieves who violate our citizens," Sheriff Arnold said.

Detective Kyle Norrod charged suspects Sean Ryan Lafferty, 29, of Avalon Place and Randall Ewing Council, 27, of Spanntown Road near Arrington with eight counts of aggravated burglary, theft and vandalism. They are being held in Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

Lafferty and Council allegedly stole more than $10,000 worth of televisions, jewelry, firearms, game systems and electronics from six homes in Walter Hill and two homes in other areas of the county. Detective Norrod recovered a large screen TV, a handgun found near Council when Fugitive Unit deputies arrested him, jewelry and electronics.

"We've tied them to eight burglaries but we believe they've done more than that," Detective Norrod said. "They are both career criminals," adding both suspects told him they allegedly stole property to pay for drug addictions.

Fugitive Sgt. Randy Morrow said the handgun was within Council's reach when they entered a home to arrest him. They found Lafferty in the back yard injecting drugs into his arm.

Detective Norrod said they were also charged with stealing an $800 interface for a sound system left on a porch after a delivery.

"People in Rutherford County are a lot safer with them in jail," Detective Norrod said.

In unrelated cases, Detective Phil Brooks said one of his victims heard a television news report about "pillowcase bandits" stealing property from homes and hauling the property out in pillowcases.

Detective Phil Brooks said suspects Christopher Handley, 33, of Kingwood Drive and Aubrey Lynn Clement, 19, of Crocus Court, both of Murfreesboro, were charged with breaking into homes in Rutherford and several counties in Tennessee and northern Alabama.

Both suspects are accused of breaking into two houses on Coleman Hill Road and Golden Valley Drive in Rutherford County, he said.

Detective Brooks interviewed Handley who gave a statement but Clement would not speak to him.

"They have hit so many houses he doesn't know what he hit," Detective Brooks said, adding Handley has been charged multiple times in Rutherford County.

Detective Brooks recovered a Holloway High School class ring and one of the victims claimed her stolen property in Athens, Ala. One of the victims drove to Athens, Ala., to identify her stolen property.

They allegedly broke into a home last weekend in Athens where they encountered a 15-year-old boy who gave officers a description of their vehicle. Officers located them and arrested them.

In a third ring, Detective Steve Brown said burglars operating out of Antioch and Nashville broke into houses in Rutherford County on Rocky Fork Road, Del Thomas Road and the Almaville community along with Marshall and Williamson Counties.

Several law enforcement agencies working together identified the suspects. Detective Brown charged Manasseh T. Combs with burglarizing the Rocky Fork Road home.

Detective Brown said the burglaries occurred from mid-November through Christmas.

Fugitive Capt. Terry McBurney, Lt. Chuck Barnes, Sgt. Morrow and Deputies George Alexander and Jack Keisling spent 200 man-hours searching for Lafferty and Council, talking to family members and friends in an effort to locate them.

"They have been a burden on our society," Sgt. Morrow said. "People of this county deserve to not have their houses burglarized while they are at work. We wanted to make sure the people of the county know we are here to bring them to justice."
