A member of the Rutherford County School Board is in the hospital, in critical condition. Helen Blankenship was rushed to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital Friday after passing out that morning in her home. Family members say she has a blood infection and are asking for prayers. Blankenship was one of three new board members elected in 2012. Blankenship, who earned both a BS in agribusiness and agriscience and a masters in vocational technical education from MTSU, worked as a substitute teacher. Their family also owns a farm on Halls Hill Pike.
