The Rutherford County School Board approved a measure to increase pay for most substitute teachers by five-dollars. The raise will begin February 1st. School board member Jeff Jordan, who was on the Truman Show, spoke about education issues with listeners. He mentioned one problem the county is dealing with is not having enough substitute teachers.

With the raise, the pay will be between 62-dollars, 50-cents to 70-dollars a day. The board is also likely to ask for another five-dollar pay raise in the next school budget for next year. In comparison, Murfreesboro City School subs get between 72-and-75 dollars while in Nashville, substitute teachers earn more than 80-dollars
