Rutherford Co. forced by Federal Government to spend extra $2-million per year

Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess told WGNS he is concerned with the cost of healthcare during the next fiscal year which begins in just a couple of months. He told us the healthcare costs are dramatically increasing with the expansion of the Affordable Healthcare act…

Again, that is an additional charge of $63 per person within the county insurance program. In other words, employees and their family members will soon cost the county an extra $63 each and that money will go to the federal government. The Mayor said the extra charge per person and several other factors involved will cost the county an additional $2-million per year. 

On a brighter note,  Mayor Burgess says our county is once again growing and the economy really is looking up…

The Mayor did not specify nor comment on the possibility of a tax increase in 2014.
