Rutherford County in need of road funding

Rutherford County is in need of funding for highway repairs and construction, that according to a recent article in the Murfreesboro Post. The report suggested that the county is in need of $259 million from the state of Tennessee. Evidently, the money is supposed to come from the Tennessee Department of Transportation. However, the funding has been postponed multiple times.

As Rutherford County continues to grow, so will the need for road repairs and new road construction in the county. Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess told News Radio WGNS in a past interview:

Burgess says the worst of the eight roads and bridges listed by a statewide advocacy group as unfunded is State Route 266/Jefferson Pike from SR 102/Sam Ridley Parkway in Smyrna eastward to SR 840. He said SR 266 is narrow, winding and has virtually no shoulders. - Read more in the POST.
