Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess says the county has given the private businesses who rent space in the county-owned strip along Maple Street a move-out date of October 1, 2015. The Daily News Journal has requested an extension on its move-out date. They were granted the extension of June 15, 2015. Gannet Newspapers sold the land on which the local paper is house to the county. A multi-level parking garage to accommodate the needs of the soon to be built new Judicial Building will be constructed there.
