This was the nineteenth consecutive Veterans Day Celebration on the historic Murfreesboro square. With temperatures around 70s, sunny skies and breezy 15 mile per hour winds, several hundred persons gathered to honor our military and especially those who made the supreme sacrifice.

Tennessee Senator Dr. Mark Green was the keynote speaker. His most memorable mission was the capture of Saddam Hussein. Dr. Green interviewed Saddam for six hours on the night of his capture. In fact, he has written a book detailing that interview. The book is titled Jedi Nights. During that time Senator Green was selected as the Army Aviation Association Flight Surgeon of the year.

Retire Staff Sergeant Dan Alcorn, who served with the United States Marines in Vietnam from 1966-1969, was the emcee of the Veterans Day Celebration.

The Central Magnet School choir and the Siegel High School band offered a tremendous variety of patriotic selections.
